Beginning Knitting with MYS Staff.
During the first 2 classes, you will learn to cast on, knit, purl, increase, decrease & cast off. During the 3rd class session, you will pick out an easy project, learn to read knitting instructions & work on your chosen project for the remainder of the course. Fee: $78 per session for four weeks. Note: All materials must be purchased from Mosaic Yarn Studio, Ltd. Beginning Knitting can be taken twice.

Intermediate Knitting (and Crocheting)
You will learn more advanced techniques of your choice. For example, you can choose a simple cabled sweater pattern, a fair isle pattern,an intarsia pattern – the choice is yours! This class can betaken over and over and over and over..
Holding a fuzzy yarn with a smoother yarn, you will learn how to do an “e” cast on and knit garter stitch in the round. You will need to have a 24” circular needle in a size US 13. If you need help choosing your yarn, come a little early for class!
Sun. September 4, 2 -4 p.m. Fee: $32; 2 hour class
Learn how to do traditional Fisherman’s rib. This technique is different than Brioche knitting. It involves knitting in the row below. You will make a simple scarf and you can sew the ends together to form a cowl if you prefer. This stitch can be used for the whole family!

Learn some Bavarian basics while working on a fingerless mitt. You can use your favorite technique for knitting small circumferences in the round (i.e. double points, two circular needles or magic loop).

Indian Cross Stitch Scarf with June Sorensen Learn the very interesting cross stitch pattern while knitting a scarf in your favorite Koigu color. Choose 2 skeins of Koigu from our huge selection and bring a size US 6 knitting needle. No cable needle required.

A masterpiece from the work of Elizabeth Zimmermann. This hat can be made in one evening with super thick yarn and a big needle! The sample hat is done in a braided yarn, Ushya, and is from Marisol’s new collection. Elizabeth also referred to this hat at the conch, snail or Dairy Queen hat. You can find the pattern in Knitting Without Tears or The Opinionated Knitter.

Learn how to make an entrelac shawl with pointed edges and fringe. Choose a self-striping sock yarn like Noro Silk Garden sock and the color changes are done for you! Some knowledge of entrelac knitting is helpful.

Continental Knitting (& Purling) with Darlene Joyce
Learning continental knitting, sometimes called picking, can help give you options while knitting. Some knitters find that they can knit more evenly and quickly with this method. Students will learn both knit and purl stitch. Additional practice is advised to become proficient.
Tues. October 25, 2-4 p.m. a.m. Fee: $24; 1 1/2 hour class
Basic Socks with Darlene Joyce
Knit a basic sock using fine needles and special sock yarn. You will learn to use double pointed needles, turn a heel and create a gusset. The instructor will discuss ways to ensure a proper fitting sock.
Fri. October 28 to Novemer 18 (No Class November 11), 2 – 4 p.m. a.m. Fee: $66; 3 week class
An asymmetrical buttoned wrap inspired by Teva Durham’s “gestalt” knitting class, using the naturaledges of the charted pattern to inform the shape of the finished garment.Exact gauge is not important, but yarn choice is crucial! Size of one finished leaf motif is given, rather thansts/inch. This will work best in a lofty, super bulky yarn where 9 sts = 4” in stockinette per the ball band. Pattern includes written instructions for one leaf, as well as a chart for the entire wrap. Tues. October 4 & 11; 2 – 4 p.m. Fee: $55; 2 week class
Intermediate Crochet with MYS Staff. This class is for crocheters of any skill
level. It is tailored around what you know and what you’d like to learn. If you’re new to crochet,
you’ll get started with chain, single, and double crochet stitches. Already know the basics? Then
learn to read patterns and stitch diagrams. If you want to learn classics like granny squares,
doilies, motifs, or filet crochet, only your imagination is the limit! Come prepared with a prject
of your choosing, and let’s get started. All yarn must be purchased from MYS.

Designed by Sheryl Thies. Learn how to do double-ended Tunisian crochet. Students must purchase Tunisian Crochet Encore from MYS, sport weight yarn and a size L double-ended Tunisian hook. (Denise brand works well). Some Tunisian experience required.

Designed by Sheryl Thies. Learn short row shaping and Tunisian extended simple stitch to create feminine ruffle scarf. Choose your favorite fingering weight yarn (at least 425 yards). Students must purchase Tunisian Crochet Encore from MYS. Wed. October 5, 2 – 4 p.m. Fee: $32; two hour class
Lovely Existence with Darlene Joyce
This class is for crocheters who already know a little Tunisian crochet. Learn how to do a simple eyelet pattern and fit the sweater to you. Darlene’s sample is in Debbie Bliss Eco Baby. Students must have Get Hooked on Tunisian Crochet by Sheryl Thies. Available at MYS for $22.99. Sat. October 29, November 5 & 19;1 -3 p.m. Fee: $66; 3 week class
Trellis Mittens with Darlene Joyce
Learn how to make a mitten with a beautiful trellis center. The mitten starts from the top and goes down, making it easy to custom size. Patterns calls for 200 yards of worsted weight yarn. Darlene’s sample is in Filatura Zara.

Bombay Love with Courtney Buckalew
Easy top down crochet sweater. This cardigan can easily be made larger by using thicker yarn and/or increasing more stitches. Please chose 200 yards of worsted weight yarn from our great selction and a size I hook.
Tues. August 30 & September 6; 10 a.m.- 12 p.m. Fee: $55; 2 week class
Materials: Except when noted, yarns must be purchased from Mosaic Yarn Studio. Come in as soon as possible to pick out your supplies in case we need to order something. Students receive a 10% discount on all class materials.
Registration: Registration is required for all classes. 100% of the class fee is due at registration. You may register by phone via Visa/Mastercard/American Express or use our online secure shopping cart. Of course, you can always register in person!
Class Minimum: A minimum number students is required in order for a class to run. You will be notified one week in advance if the minimum is not met and your deposit will be refunded.
Cancellation: Store credit can be issued for your deposit if we are notified one week before the start of class. After this point, deposits are non-refundable. Out of courtesy to our instructors, no make-up classes are given.
