Saturdays, May 9 to 23, 2 - 4 p.m. Knit a basic sock using fine needles and special sock yarn. You will learn to use double pointed needles, turn a heel and create a gusset. If you desire, you can use the Addi Turbo Easy Knits to start the sock and then switch to the double points at the heel turn. The instructor will discuss ways to ensure a proper fitting sock.

Saturday, May 4 to 25, 10 - 11:30 a.m. with Darlene Thursdays, June 6 to 27, 2 - 3:30 p.m. with Darlene Fridays, June 7 to 28, 11 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. with Georg Sundays, July 14 to August 4, 2:30 - 4 p.m. with Georg This class is for beginners. You'll get started with chain, single crochet and double crochet stitches the first two classes. Choose a skein of Plymouth Encore yarn and a H hook and you will be on your way! On the 3rd class, you will pick out an easy project, learn to read simple crochet instructions & work on your chosen project for the remainder of the course.

Saturday, May 11, 12 -2 p.m. This class is for students who know some basics of crochet. Darlene will you walk you through making a scarf using chain on and double crochet groupings.

The emphasis of this class is EDUCATION. Students are guided through the various stitches and techniques each month as their knitting knowledge is increased. With a different skill focus each month there is something new to learn at each class. Topics such as gauge, cast ons, bind offs, cables, increases, decreases, lace, pattern reading and more are covered. Learn how to choose the right yarn for any project. Students will learn how to read yarn labels, how different fibers behave, how to substitute yarns, how to determine yardage needed and how to make a measureable gauge swatch. Students will also learn the basics of blocking, including wet blocking, mist blocking and steam blocking and when to use each technique.

Saturday, May 25, 3 - 5 p.m. HOMEWORK Are you tired of running into the shop every time the stitches fall off the needle? Come and learn how to correct common mistakes made while knitting. You will learn to pick up dropped stitches in stockinette, garter, and at the end of the row. The class will include exercises in dropping down pattern stitches, picking up dropped stitches, and ripping out rows of knitting and getting stitches back on the needle.

Saturday, June 29, 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. Learn to knit a basic fair isle hat. You will choose your own motifs and color combinations. Please bring a 16" circular needle size 7. Homework: Cast on 100 stitches on a 16" circular needle size US 5, join in the round and work in ribbing for 1 1/4".

Sundays, May 19, June 2 & 16, 12 - 2 p.m. Fridays, May 3, June 14 & 28, 2 - 4 p.m. Learn the parts of the loom and weaving terminology. Students will assemble their loom, warp it and do a balanced weave using worsted weight yarn purchased from MYS. This basic class is a spring board for more advanced weaving technique classes to come. If bringing own loom, make sure it is a rigid heddle and is no bigger than 20". Check with Georg if uncertain.

Saturdays, April 6, 20, May 4 & June 8, 12 - 2 p.m. Use Ann Budd's book "The Knitter's Handy Book of Patterns" and the yarn of your choice to make a basic pullover sweater or cardigan in any size. The set-in-sleeve is flattering to almost all body types. Couture techniques are taught to refine your knitting repertoire, including measuring your body, adjusting the pattern, paired increases/decreases, selvedge edges, sloped bind off, seaming, and picking up stitches.
