Year of Gifts 2023 (knit via Zoom)



June will pick out the pattern each month following Kelbourne’s Year of Gifts, skipping /substituting any projects the group decides.

October-Delphinium Beret (click on link for pattern)

This intricate lace beret is worked in the round from the
bottom up. After working a knit 1, purl 1 ribbing, increases
are worked for the body. The body and crown of the hat is
worked from a chart.

 

When working the crown decreases, change to double pointed needles when the body circumference is too small to work on the circular.

 

Specifications
YARN

Kelbourne Woolens Andorra (60% Merino wool, 20% Highland wool, 20% mohair; 185 yds/50 gm skein): 412 dark navy, 1 skein. (click on "Andorra link to order)
GAUGE
31 sts and 40 rnds = 4” (10 cm) in K1, P1 Ribbing on smaller ndls, after blocking.
1 patt repeat (24 sts) = 3.5” (9 cm) and 28 rnds = 4” (10 cm)
in body chart on larger ndls, after blocking.
NEEDLES
1 – 16” (40 cm) US 1 (2.25 mm) circular.
1 – 16” (40 cm) US 3 (3.25 mm) circular.
1 – set US 3 (3.25 mm) DPNs.
Check your gauge and adjust needle size(s) accordingly if necessary.
NOTIONS
Darning needle, locking stitch marker, Kelbourne Woolens
label, sewing thread, sharp sewing needle.
SIZE
16.5” (42 cm) brim circumference, unstretched, 10” (25.5
cm) diameter, laid flat, 8.25” (21 cm) height, after blocking.
SKILLS
Lace from charts, decreasing in pattern.

November-Diamond Leaf Cowl (click on link for free pattern)
Darlene designed this cowl a while back, but it is a beloved on Ravelry.  We have reknit our sample in super soft, Berroco Renew (2 skeins)

December-Amaryllis Mittens (click on link for $5 pattern)
The Amaryllis Mittens are knit flat in pieces and then joined at the slipped stitch edge using a single crochet chain. This construction creates a firm, secure accessory designed to last.

GAUGE
28 sts and 40 rows = 4” (10 cm) in Broken Ribbing, after blocking.
28 sts and 44 rows = 4” (10 cm) in Back of Hand Chart pattern, after blocking.
NEEDLES
1 set US 1 (2.25 mm) DPNs
1 – 16” or 24” (40 or 60 cm) US 1 (2.25 mm) circular.
Check your gauge and adjust needle size accordingly if necessary.
NOTIONS
Small darning needle, 2.5 mm or 3 mm crochet hook, Kelbourne Woolens leather tag.
SIZE
12.5” length, 8.5” circumference, after blocking and join.
SKILLS
Working knit/purl and slipped stitches from a chart, increasing and decreasing, simple crochet.
