Modular Inlay Wrap (Stephen West Study Group)

What is a study group you ask?  I guess it is similar to a KAL, in that everyone is making the same project.  However, in this study group we encourage each member to research the project (i.e. read the directions, explore on Ravelry or other sources what others did, experiment with colors) and share with the group what you found out.  Nick will guide each participant to share during the Zoom meetings.  His role will not be to "tell you how to make it".

This garter stitch design is a graphic statement piece knit with fingering weight yarn. The fabric is knit from the center outward as you work one section at a time. Stitches are picked up from previous sections for an entirely seamless knit. The pattern is written for four colors or you can make a scrappy multi-color sample using as many colors as you like!

Finished Measurements: 76” / 193cm long, 28” / 71cm wide. Measurements taken after blocking.

Yarn: Fingering weight

We are more than happy to create a kit for you.  Please email us at info@mosaicyarnstudio.com with your request, including your favorite colorways.

Yardage: Approximately 1900yds / 1737m total

Color A - 900 yds / 823m (big center section)
Color B - 500yds / 457m (side triangles in the middle of the side)
Color C - 250yds / 229m (diagonal triangles)
Color D - 250yds / 229m (diagonal triangles)

Most of the color A central sections require fewer than 100dys / 91m per section.
All triangle sections use fewer than 100yds / 91m per section except the last big triangle sections on each tip of the wrap each require about 125yds / 114m.

If you are making a multi-color version, gather a pile of colors with plenty of yardage to spare, so you have lots of color choosing options.

Needles: Three pairs US 5 / 3.75mm circular in 40” / 100cm length or size needed to obtain gauge.

Notions: Tapestry needle

Gauge: 20 sts & 36 rows = 4” / 10cm in garter stitch after blocking
