Purl & Loop Wee Weaver or Minute Weaver

The Wee Weaver:  This lightweight and portable birch loom is made of 1/8" birch wood, and measures approximately 4" x 4 1/2" with a work area of 3 3/4" x 3 1/2". There are 4 setts/gauges available; 4 ends per inch (4.0 e.p.i.), 8.0, 10.0 and 12.0.   The wee coaster size can be a max of 3 3/4" x 3 1/4". The materials for these looms are sourced in Houston, Texas and the looms are handmade in our Houston studio. The loom comes with color photo instructions, wood tapestry needle, small metal tapestry needle for the smaller and tighter areas of the project, wee weaving comb, wee pick up stick and a reusable cotton carrying bag.  The instructions demonstrate how to make the wee coaster with fringe and without fringe. The Wee Weaver is an ideal way to learn the very basics of weaving in less than two hours. This is a great way to use up yarn stash.

Guidelines:

• Warp requires 4 yards of any weight or thickness (as long as it fits in the grooves) yarn or string.  This amount takes into consideration wrapping the warp entirely around the front and back around every slot.
• Weft requires about 10 yards of worsted weight yarn.  Weft requirements will change with different weights or types of yarn

The Minute Weaver™ is designed to self teach the very basics of weaving in 30 minutes or less. It is teeny tiny and super quick. This is ideal for users who may not want to spend too much time or money in a class or on a larger, more complicated loom product before having a basic understanding of weaving. The results are micro 2” squares that can be stitched together for a larger project. Might be considered a shot glass or demitasse coaster. Yarn/thread requirements range from 3.5 - 6.5 yards depending on weight or thickness.

• single Minute Weaver comes with step by step photo instructions, metal tapestry needle, wee 2" weaving comb and cotton bag, yarn optional
• available in 3 gauges:

• Medium (M8) – 8 slots or 4 ends per inch (e.p.i ) – ideal for working with dk, worsted or bulky weight yarn. The thicker yarn means the weaving is much quicker. Requires about 3 ½ yards dk weight yarn. The Medium size not recommended for embroidery threads.
• Fine (F16) – 16 slots or 8 e.p.i – ideal for working with sock or lace weight yarn and some heavier embroidery threads. Uses about 6 ½ yards of a lighter weight yarn or thread.
• Extra Fine (EF 20) – 20 slots or 10 e.p.i– ideal for lighter weight yarns or embroidery thread. Requires about 6 ½ yards of lighter weight yarn or thread.
